What is an Alcohol Breath Analyzer

15 November, 2021

An alcohol breath analyzer, also known as a Breathalyzer, measures a person’s blood alcohol content (BAC). The BAC of an individual determines their motor and mental capabilities after alcohol intake; which then translates to their ability to drive and perform other basic tasks. Law enforcers monitor the BAC of drivers driving irregularly or dangerously, which helps maintain road safety and prevent alcohol-induced accidents. Police officers would typically look for individuals over the alcohol driving limit of 0.05%; who are then detained and charged with DUI. The individual in question blows into the sterile tube of the breathalyzer, wherein the amount of alcohol within the exhaled breath is then processed and calculated into a BAC level. The higher the BAC, the more likely the person is affected by alcohol-induced impairments.

A BAC of 0.05% or more regularly has mild to moderate motor awareness, memory, coordination, and judgment impairments that can easily affect one’s ability to drive. It is one of the main reasons for the implementation of the 0.05% driving limit. People nowadays can buy and have a personal alcohol breath analyzer to help them monitor their own BAC. Devices like the BACtrack breathalyzer that comes with wireless and easy-to-use features help make self-monitoring conveniently possible. The ability to communicate with iOS, Android and Google phones via Bluetooth allows the BACtrack devices to provide more detailed information. Information like how long and when the BAC of the user would return to 0.00%.

Devices like the BACtrack S80 Pro also come with a one-touch operation system that would be ready to take the BAC of an individual with just a press of a button, without needing any other settings or connections. It allows those even with limited experience to effectively use and own a personal breathalyzer. You can avoid possible severe DUI penalties like hefty fines, confiscated licenses, impounded vehicles, ignition interlocks, and possible jail time with the use of a personal alcohol breath analyzer. BACtrack breathalyzers have fuel cell technology; this is the same kind of technology one could find in a police officer’s or medical professional’s breathalyzer. It ensures that even personal breathalyzers can provide professional-grade accurate results.

Knowing one’s exact BAC could come very handy, especially to those who occasionally like to go out drinking with their friends. Having a personal alcohol breath analyzer tell you whether you can legally drive or not can drastically affect your decision to either drive or take a taxi home. It further improves a person’s safety as well as prevents DUI charges.
